Everyone's buzzing about The Dubrow Diet, the new book co-authored by The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Heather Dubrow. In case you've been hiding under a rock with no diet books, here's the scoop: The book, which is based on clinical research, suggests eating at regular intervals to lose weight.
Let's have Terry Dubrow, the co-author, explain. "This diet is not a fad diet; it's not even really a diet," he recently told The Feast. "It's a lifestyle. It's based on pure science. In fact, a Nobel Prize in medicine was given for this science two years ago, with the discovery of the fact that if you eat in certain intervals, and then you don't eat in other intervals, then ... you immediately start breaking down your fats."
Sounds pretty interesting, right? But maybe you have some doubts... doubts that RHOC rookie Gina Kirschenheiter also has. When chatting with The Feast recently, the Long Island native said, "I heard [Heather] talk about it on WWHL. Like, don’t eat and then eat for two hours a day? I don’t know, I mean he’s a doctor, I mean it sounds like something that would work, because it sounds like there’s not really a lot of eating involved ... I mean it sounds like it would work. But I couldn’t do that."
Fair enough! But, if I can play devil's advocate — or just channel Heather — we'll remind you of what she recently told us. "What we have done [with The Dubrow Diet] is turned this interval eating into such a good, practical way for anyone to do, and given you your favorite foods. You have to cheat. So we give you three tracks: There's a slow track, a medium track, and a fast track. We like the fast track — it's a 16-hour non-feeding period. But you still have calories during that period of time, and then you get your cheat meal, snack, or day, depending on what track you're on."
